Gallagher Statement on H.Res. 660
Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) today issued the following statement after the House voted on H.Res 660, the resolution to continue the ongoing impeachment inquiry.
“From day one, Speaker Pelosi’s partisan impeachment inquiry has lacked transparency, disregarded due process, and denied fairness to the President and House Republicans. Today’s vote doesn’t change that. It doubles down on a fundamentally flawed process that breaks with historical precedent and continues to restrict Republicans seat at the table."
“Past impeachment inquiries have afforded the President due process, delegated co-equal authorities to the minority party, and been conducted by the House Judiciary Committee. This time, the process follows none of those precedents. Speaker Pelosi has weaponized the House Intelligence Committee, and its Chairman, Adam Schiff, has bizarrely chosen to use a traditionally non-partisan committee to spearhead this highly-charged process. The House Intelligence Committee has never led an impeachment inquiry. It’s intended to oversee our non-partisan intelligence agencies. Yet Chairman Schiff has instead chosen to turn the committee's attention away from national security towards a fundamentally political impeachment inquiry. This is insane.”
