Gallagher Statement on House Passage of NDAA

December 11, 2019

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) today issued the following statement after the House passed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2020 by a vote of 377-48. Rep. Gallagher serves on the House Armed Services Committee, which is responsible for drafting the NDAA.

"This NDAA marks a key step towards implementing the National Defense Strategy and doing right by our men and women in uniform. It continues our bipartisan work to build a 355 ship Navy, codifies the Trump administration's actions on Huawei, ensures ZTE is complying with its settlement with the U.S. government, provides for critical independent reviews of National Defense Strategy implementation, and gives our troops a well-deserved pay increase.

"For 58 years, Congress has put aside partisan politics to uphold its most important responsibility to provide for the common defense. While we hit some road bumps along the way, I'm glad we were able to uphold this tradition."
