Gallagher Statement on Genocide Declaration in Xinjiang

WASHINGTON, D.C. —Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) today released the following statement after the State Department determined that the Chinese Communist Party's repression of Uyghur Muslims and other minority groups amounts to genocide.
"Today, the Chinese Communist Party's gross violations of human rights in Xinjiang are being recognized for what they are: genocide. These crimes against humanity cannot go unpunished, and this acknowledgement brings the world one step closer to holding CCP officials complicit in these atrocities accountable for their actions."
