Gallagher Slams Pelosi's Proxy Voting Extension

September 23, 2022

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) today released the following statement after Speaker Pelosi extended proxy voting through November 10, 2022.

"Earlier this week, President Biden claimed that the pandemic was over. It seems everyone but Speaker Pelosi agrees. By extending proxy voting, Speaker Pelosi continues to allow members to forgo the most important component of their job – voting – and lie to their constituents in the process. The day when Republicans take back the House and eliminate this unconstitutional and unethical practice can’t come soon enough.”

Earlier this year, Rep. Gallagher testified before the House Rules Committee and outlined how members of Congress are lying and abusing proxy voting. Click HERE to watch his testimony.

Rep. Gallagher has consistently called proxy voting unconstitutional, arguing that it makes Congress non-essential and is being exploited by members of Congress. He introduced a resolution last year that would end proxy voting.
