Gallagher Named to NDAA Conference Committee

November 18, 2020
Press Release
This evening, Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) was selected by Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) to serve on the bipartisan, bicameral NDAA Conference Committee. The committee will work to reconcile differences between the House and Senate versions of the FY2021 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which authorizes funding for the Department of Defense.

“I’m honored to have the opportunity to serve on this year’s Conference Committee for the National Defense Authorization Act,” said Rep. Gallagher. “At a time when our country faces a complex set of security challenges, our commitment to strengthening our cyber defenses and countering threats like those posed by the Chinese Communist Party could not be more important. I look forward to working with my colleagues to produce a conference report that not only addresses these challenges but, above all else, ensures our troops have the resources they need to get the job done and come home safe.”

“For as long as I’ve known him, Mike has been an innovative thinker, close student of history, and proud patriot. He served his country with distinction as a Marine intelligence officer and has proven to be a forward-looking legislator since arriving to Congress, especially in addressing the China threat. There is no question that our nation will face new and difficult threats in the next decade. But Mike has the intelligence, dedication, and courage to help us both recognize and overcome them. Based on these qualities, he will help get NDAA signed into law," said Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy.

The House passed its version of the NDAA earlier this year by a vote of 295-125, while the Senate passed its version by a vote of 86-14. Rep. Gallagher serves on the House Armed Services Committee, which was responsible for drafting the House version of the legislation.
