Gallagher Invites WI-8 Veterans to Participate in the Veterans History Project
Washington, D.C. – Ahead of Veterans Day, Rep. Gallagher is inviting all Northeast Wisconsin veterans to take part in the Veterans History Project in an effort to collect, preserve, and make accessible the personal accounts of American veterans. Over the course of the next year, Rep. Gallagher will be facilitating interviews with 8th District veterans, and submitting their oral histories or personal documents for preservation in the national Veterans History Project Archive at the Library of Congress.
“Northeast Wisconsin is home to over 46,000 veterans– that’s over 46,000 individuals with their own unique, personal stories to tell. The Veterans History Project is a powerful tool we have at our disposal to honor and preserve the service and sacrifice of our veterans for future generations to appreciate.” Rep. Gallagher continued, “By collecting and hearing our veterans’ stories first-hand we can learn valuable lessons and preserve our exceptional heritage.”
Rep. Gallagher is inviting all constituents in the 8th District to participate in the project by joining him in collecting the stories of veterans in the community. The project accepts written and recorded interviews, diaries, letters, photographs and two-dimensional art for submission. Click here to learn more.
