Gallagher Helps Secure Authorization for Three Littoral Combat Ships
Washington, D.C. – Rep. Gallagher helped secure authorization for the building of three Littoral Combat Ships (LCS) in the final version of the FY18 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) released yesterday by the House and Senate Conference Committee. The Freedom-class variant of the LCS is built by Fincantieri Marinette Marine in Marinette, Wisconsin.
After the final draft of the NDAA was released, Rep. Gallagher released the following statement:
“As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, I am proud to go to bat for the hardworking men and women at Marinette Marine and help secure authorization for three more Littoral Combat Ships. Not only do these ships help fulfill the Navy’s own call for a 355-ship fleet, but they also translate into local, high-skill and high-paying jobs for Northeast Wisconsin workers. I am grateful for Chairman Thornberry’s support and leadership on this issue, and I look forward to showing the rest of the country the important role Northeast Wisconsin has to play in strengthening the military through our impressive ship building tradition.”
