Gallagher, Courtney Condemn State-Based Cyberattack on Australia
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Reps. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) and Joe Courtney (D-CT), co-chairs of the Friends of Australia Caucus, today released the following statement after Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced Australia was under a cyberattack from a state-based actor.
“In light of Prime Minister Morrison’s announcement that Australia is under cyberattack by a ‘sophisticated state-based cyber actor,’ we offer our unconditional support for our Australian ally. As Prime Minister Morrison has outlined, these attacks target not only government networks, but political organizations, public health, critical infrastructure, and other essential services. We forcefully condemn these attacks and hope their perpetrators will be held accountable. Australians should know that the United States stands beside them, now and always."
