Gallagher Announces $1.6 Million Grant for the Village of Sister Bay

October 17, 2019

Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) today announced that the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) awarded a grant of $1,626,500 to the Village of Sister Bay. The grant – accompanied by a loan of $3,391,000 – will be used to upgrade the Wastewater Treatment Facility in Sister Bay.

"Clean water is critical to our health and way of life in Northeast Wisconsin," said Rep. Gallagher. "This funding will play an important role in modernizing water infrastructure in Sister Bay, and I'm glad the USDA recognized the significance of this project. I look forward to finding ways we can continue to support development of clean water infrastructure in Congress."

"The village of Sister Bay is pleased to learn of the grant award and the accompanying loan to upgrade our wastewater treatment facility from the USDA. We want to thank Rep. Gallagher for his continuing focus and support of the clean water infrastructure in our community and northeastern Wisconsin,"said David W Lienau, Sister Bay Village President.

Background:

The grant and loan will be used to expand infrastructure and upgrade critical equipment used by the facility. Built in 1990, the facility has become difficult to maintain due to the lack of availability for spare parts. The project will complete improvements to the facility such as: oxidation ditch drives and shafts, clarifier drive replacement, clarifier dome, painting and septage handling, replacement of the electrical power distribution, HVAC equipment and a new supervisory control and data acquisition system, among other improvements.
