Calling Northeast WI Students: Gallagher Opens 2022 Congressional Art Competition

GREEN BAY, WI – Rep. Mike Gallagher today announced the 2022 Congressional Art Competition is now open to all high school students that live or attend school in Wisconsin's 8th District. The Congressional Art Competition is an annual event hosted by the Congressional Institute that highlights the artistic talent of high school students across the country.

"The Congressional Art Competition ensures everyone who visits the U.S. Capitol has the opportunity to see the outstanding talent of Northeast Wisconsin students,"said Rep. Gallagher."Every year, students from across the Eighth District impress me with their skills, and I'm looking forward to seeing their creativity shine through in this year's submissions."

All eligible art will be featured in an exhibition at the Neville Public Museum in Green Bay from April 25-May 7, and judged by an independent panel of local artists. The first-place selection will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building for one year, and the next two runners-up will have their artwork displayed in Rep. Gallagher's Washington, DC, and District offices.

All art and required forms must be received at the district office in DePere no later than 4 p.m. on April 20, 2022. Artwork may not exceed, when framed, 26 inches by 26 inches and 4 inches in depth and may not weigh more than 15 pounds.

Accepted two-dimensional artwork medium:

  • Paintings - oil, acrylics, and watercolor
  • Drawings - pastels, colored pencil, pencil, charcoal, ink, and markers
  • Collages - must be two dimensional
  • Prints - lithographs, silkscreen, and block prints
  • Mixed Media - use of more than two mediums such as pencil, ink, watercolor, etc.
  • Computer-generated art
  • Photography
